My new backpack!

Okay, it isn't here yet but I ordered it today! Yippeeee... It's called the Columbia Red Tip and the color is dark celery. A certain bun better not be exercising his teeth on this thing.

Poignant yet pointless crisis of a grad student

Until yesterday, I had not set foot in a campus classroom since 2002 when I left grad school. Well technically I did go to a campus in 2003 for a notary class, but that's useless trivia. Anyway, yesterday marked my return to grad school.

There's been a lot of excitement leading up to this. Now, there is just the realization that I am still crazy. If you consider taking a class so far away that more time is spent in the car than actually in class. And if you consider how many textbooks I could purchase with the money spent on gas.

I wish I could say I didn't think about these things. Alas, I did think about them. I pondered dozens of reasons not to go back. One class was enough. Yesterday at the last minute, I decided to take TWO classes. They meet on different nights. Even with all these very good and valid reasons not to do this, I foolishly chose to do it anyway.

God, what an idiot.

Less anxiety at the office

Boss is out of the country for over a week. This is good. Hopefully I will be caught up on this mountain of filing before he returns.

Oh, and less caffeine today is another good thing.

Why I usually avoid caffeine

I am going to scream because I have all these Subpoenas with accompanying documents to send out by the end of the day. I gave my boss the drafts at lunch time, it is 3:30 now and he still hasn’t even LOOKED at them! He wants them out today. I am not staying until 7pm tonight. My new motto is: I am trying to do better about being on time, and I refuse to get home at 7pm more than once a week. He probably assumes I’ll be here late tonight because I usually stay way after we close. But I can't do it tonight - too much at home to do!

I kind of nudged him about the Subpoenas an hour ago, and he said “I’ll look at them” but he’s been talking to other attorneys or on the phone ever since! He’s going to give me those Subpoenas at 4:45 with a bunch of corrections, and there is no way I’ll get all the corrections and copies made and get them in the envelopes with certified mail receipts at a decent time.

To be fair, I work at a great place with wonderful people. My bosses are amazingly generous and kind, and they are letting me go to grad school part time and adjust my schedule. So I can’t really complain. But sheesh! Can’t he stop joking around with the attorneys and get to those Subpoenas? Ten minutes of his time can keep me from having to spend an extra two hours here tonight. Grrrrr!!!!!

The cup of coffee I drank this morning is not helping with frustration tolerance. But alas, I did drink the coffee and its effects are being felt. Everything must go my way, and NOW, or else!

The male ego

Hey there everybody. Dad took this picture of me and it almost does me justice. All you lady pugs out there - you know who you are - don't you wish your babies looked this good?! It's a shame I can't reproduce.

Every ending leads to a new beginning

Exactly two months ago, my baby girl Puggy passed on to the spirit realm. I believe she is at peace, and that she still feels the love of the people who hold her so close in our hearts.

Last week, after much insistance that she might never get another dog, my mom welcomed a pug puppy into her life and her home. This little one loves to bite toes! She also enjoys chasing Tyler, biting Tyler's tail, and licking Tyler. Tyler is fond of her as well, but he's hoping the "biting Tyler" part is just a phase.

Friends and visitors, without further ado - meet Zoe.

Childless and not complaining

I am 29 today. That's all I have to say about that. There could be more after mom's homemade chocolate pound cake.
